Why I love my Chelsea boots...

I love my Topshop Chelsea boots.

I know that Chelsea boots are nothing new to the fashion world, but I think they deserve a mention every now and again. Of course they come in all colours, shapes and sizes, but I'm going to share with you why I love mine in particular!

They are nothing remarkable, but they are are a trustworthy staple, and I could not do without them!

Firstly, they make my feet look smaller, and being a UK size 7, this is never a bad thing. The slight heel gives me that extra bit of height - which at 5'9" isn't completely necessary, but as Tesco like to remind us, "Every Little Helps". Even the smallest of heels makes us girls feel that touch more glamourous; which makes them the perfect shoe for a busy London lifestyle, where I often have to go from day to night without first going home. Furthermore as the heel is not too high, they are also suitable for walking rather long distances, which is also useful when living in a city.

This is a rather simple post, for a rather simple shoe, but sometimes simplicity is the key to an outfit.

Thank you Topshop for such a reliable, yet stylish boot!

What are your must have boots?

The London BVLGARI Hotel: A Review of the Ballroom

I'm not the sort of person who usually mingles with wealthy bankers at flashy events, however last Wednesday I was invited to attend a retail dinner hosted by Deutsche Bank at the new Bulgari hotel in Knightsbridge, London.

The reason for my invitation was that the annual dinner is hosted not only for retailers and analysts to mix, but also to raise money for a charity - this year it was Street Child World Cup - and my new job is as the Events Manager for this innovative charity. We are a street children's rights charity, who want to make the voices of street children from all over the world be heard through the vehicle of football, and are extremely grateful to Deutsche for being chosen as their charity at this years dinner.

My first impression of the Bulgari hotel was that it is extremely suave and tailored more to male tastes. It's a no-frills affair, with sleek, and possibly harsh, interior design. However, there is no doubt that it is impressive (especially to one who doesn't often experience such places!). The ambiance of the hotel echoed the exclusiveness of its jewellery, which was displayed in pristine cabinets in the lobby, making me extremely envious of anyone who can afford such pieces!

From the doorman, to the waiters, to the hosts, all of the staff were extremely helpful and attentive (slightly over zealous at times - especially with the canapés!). I did, however find it difficult to tell where the lavatories are, as the walls and doors seemed to blend into one! When I eventually found them they were luxurious and gleaming, I just wish they were easier to find!

Our evening was spent on the Ballroom level, and room perfect for larger functions. It's a striking space. The minimalist walls are complimented by a few statement pieces, such as the impressive, Bulgari designed chandeliers in the main dining room.

Aside from the exposure received for Street Child World Cup, my favourite aspect of the evening was definitely the food. It was absolutely delicious - compliments to the chef! The starter was cheese ravioli, the main was a perfect steak, and dessert was a delicious selection of tiramisu, macaroons, and truffles (of which I ate far too many!).

So, although many of us mere mortals will never be able to afford to actually stay at the Bulgari hotel (with prices starting from £588 per night it is the most expensive place to stay in London), I would advise going to eat in the restaurant, just to get a feel for the high life! Prices for food in the restaurant are not too extortionate - just be careful what you drink.

A huge thank you to Deutsche for supporting Street Child World Cup - your generous donations will make a huge difference to street children from all over the world. If you would like to find out more about the charity then please visit streetchildworldcup.org, and if you want to help then please become a supporter!

Your support would mean a lot to us!

Chanel's Little Black Jacket Exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery, London

Last Sunday I managed to make it to the last day of Karl Lagerfeld's and Carine Roitfeld's Little Black Jacket exhibition at the stunning Saatchi Gallery in London. I'd been wanting to go since it opened there on October 12th, but what with starting a new job, I simply didn't have the time. Those of you who have read my blog since the very beginning will know that one of my first posts celebrated Coco Chanel's little black dresses and Karl Lagerfeld's little black jacket, and that I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of the exhibition in London - and it even exceeded all expectations! You can read that post by clicking here: Coco & Karl.

The exhibition was a glorious collection of 113 photographs depicting friends of the fashion house wearing Lagerfeld's exquisite little black jacket. They were all striking, original and raw. The whole way round I couldn't help but say to my friend "I'm so happy we came, it's amazing!" - I think I repeated myself far too much, but I was just in awe of the images Lagerfeld has created! They are provocative and evocative in an understated way, and cleverly portray the personality of the models as well as the personality of Chanel. Modern and classic Chanel collides in a perfect way, creating timeless images which celebrate everything the fashion house is about. It is almost impossible to choose which ones were my favourites, but some of the most striking were the ones of Clémence Poésy, Elle Fanning, Anna Wintour, Natalia Vodianova, and Tilda Swinton.

Here are a couple more of my favourites (edited on my instagram: instagram.com/lucyvictoriajackson):

Vanessa Paradis

Georgia May Jagger

Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey

Unfortunately, the exhibition has now left London and the UK. However if you're in Sydney or Moscow you have until tomorrow to make it (11th November). If you're in Paris, I am extremely envious as it has only just opened there, and will run until 25th November. You're also in luck if you're from Seoul or Berlin as you have the opportunity to see the exhibition on 1st December and 23rd November respectively. You can find more information at thelittleblackjacket.chanel.com.

The Saatchi Gallery also deserves praise for hosting the London event in such fabulous fashion. The open space of the gallery was perfect, and complimented the exhibition perfectly. It was set out in such a way that visitors did not feel cramped (despite the large number of people visiting), so each individual could look at the photographs at their own pace, and without feeling rushed. What's more is that entry is free to all of their exhibitions, and at the Little Black Jacket each visitor was given 3 FREE poster! We were each given a large copy of the images of Georgia May Jagger, Lily Donaldson, and Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey, and I can safely say that come December they will all be framed and up on my bedroom walls! So if you're ever in London, or live in the UK, I would definitely advise seeing what the Saatchi Gallery has to offer, as it really is a wonderful gallery. Find out what's coming up at www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk.

If you've missed the exhibition, or have seen it and loved it, then the book of the Little Black Jacket is out now! It's certainly on my Christmas list!
