My Perfume Confession

I have a confession to make... until very recently, I must admit to being what can only be described as a perfume snob. My adamancy that Chanel Coco Mademoiselle was the only perfume for me has often put me out of pocket (even as a student I insisted on wearing it!). Now, it must be said, Chanel Coco Mademoiselle is an absolutely divine perfume - it smells irresistible, and lasts for at least 24 hours - and it really is worth the price tag. However, realistically, as a girl with a student loan to repay whilst working for a charity, is it really sensible that I insist on wearing such a scent every day? I think I can answer that question myself, and the answer is no, it is not sensible (my mother will be delighted when she reads this!).

My snobbery began to weaken at Christmas time: a member of our greater family had bought me a bottle of Kate Moss Parfum, and I was utterly surprised to learn that actually, the scent was very appealing! Before this experience, I really would never have worn a scent that was supposedly made by a celebrity (such was the perfume snob in me!), however it really did begin to change my thinking... I was slowly coming around to the idea that maybe I didn't have to wear Chanel every day.... So I began to search for a middle priced perfume that I could wear every day (once my Kate Moss Parfum was empty!). I came across the new Marc Jacobs Daisy eau so Fresh Sunshine edition and simply fell in love! The bottle is gorgeous, it smells deliciously like summer, and the price tag is reasonable. So here are my three summer scent suggestions for those who want to smell gorgeous:

CHANEL
Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum 50ml
£67

MARC JACOBS
Daisy eau so Fresh Sunshine Edition, eau de Toilette 75ml
£48

KATE MOSS
eau de Toilette Parfum
£19.95

My Chanel Coco Mademoiselle will always be top on my list of scents, whether that be in the Summer or Winter months, however now I have learnt to treasure it for special occasions, rather than wear it every day. The Marc Jacobs and Kate Moss scents really are fabulous alternatives for every day use, and I really am very happy with the compromise. I am so very glad that my snobbery has been reversed!

Are you a perfume snob? Or are you willing to step out of your perfume comfort zone?

Love Lucy x

  1. My staple scents are CKbe and Hugo Boss "Deep Red". I have bought D&G L'Imperatrice and also have 5th Avenue by Elizabeth Arden.

  2. I love Coco Mademoiselle too! Now I dare you to find Parfumerie Generale: Eau de Circe (much less known) and just wonderful, I think you'll love it!
