Pretty in Pink

Fuchsia, rose, magenta, coral, hot - as far as shades of pink go, they are each en vogue this Spring. Anna Wintour explained that her Met Gala dress choice cohered with the punk theme of the evening as "pink is the colour of punk". And although I personally wasn't quite sure of Gwyneth Paltrow's choice on the very same evening, it was clear that she was keen to pay homage to (very) hot pink.

There are some really great girly pink pieces around at the moment, for example the gorgeous French Sole Harriet ballet pumps below; but it doesn't always have to be "girly", and the boxy Topshop short sleeved shirt is an ideal clash of pink and androgyny. So, without further ado, here are my favourite pink pieces that are around at the moment:

FRENCH SOLE
harriet pink texture nubuck ballet flats
£120

TOPSHOP
short sleeved panel shirt
£34

TOPSHOP
moto pink acid joni jeans
£36

CUTLER & GROSS
0737 frost on lilac pearl sunglasses
£340

BOBBI BROWN
brightening lip gloss in popsicle
£17

THE FLOWER STAND, CHELSEA
antique rose knot
£45

Being someone who wears a lot of black and grey, I really am considering investing in some pink pieces to brighten up my wardrobe. And if I'm not quite brave enough to "pink up" my wardrobe, I will definitely at least be trying the trend through makeup. The Bobbi Brown lip gloss would be a great starting place, and I would also suggest trying some MAC lipsticks, and Barry M nail varnishes to add some pink into your beauty bag!

What are your favourite pink pieces at the moment?

Glowing Goddess!

It's February. This means that unless you're super rich and have lots of spare time you won't have seen the sun in about 6 months! I don't know about you, but I'm feeling pretty pasty, and my skin can often look dull over the long winter months. Now, I'm not a fan of faking a tan, especially not on a sunbed, so I have to succumb to the paleness that comes with an English winter. However paleness does not have to equally dullness, and this year I've found three amazing items of makeup that are helping me glow through winter!

The most important thing when trying to get that winter glow comes in the preparation stages. Take a look at My Winter Beauty Secrets  post to see my favourite exfoliators and body moisturiser (I'm still choosing my favourite facial moisturiser, so there isn't one on the list, but at the moment I'm using Garnier Dark Spot Corrector). Once I am fully exfoliated and moisturised I then apply my base makeup (Clinique foundation and concealer). After that, I apply the three below products to give me a lovely winter glow!

BOBBI BROWN
pink quartz shimmer brick
£32

BENEFIT
moon beam highlighter
£18.50

MAC
dazzlelight neutral eyeshadow with shimmer
£12

The Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick is truly amazing, and I can't believe I've waited so long to try it! It gives you a tiny bit of colour, whilst adding pearly shimmer to your face, radiating a subtle glow that makes you look healthy in the dull winter. I apply this with a thick blusher brush to my whole face. It also doubles up as gorgeous eyeshadows. The Benefit Moon Beam compliments the Shimmer Brick effect by adding extra light and shimmer to the top of your cheek bones and under your eyes. The Mac eyeshadow is just brilliant - this colour is beautiful neutral, enhancing your eyes without looking too obvious.

Why not try these shimmering products to give you that subtle glow this winter?

January Wish List: Top Ten

Happy New Year to all! I hope you had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year, and are feeling refreshed enough to take on 2013 with appropriate vigour and enthusiasm! Personally I haven't made any "resolutions" as such - I already exercise regularly, I don't overindulge too often, and I quit smoking 7 months ago - however I have committed to generally improving my time-management so that I can improve on the foundations that are already there. Do you have any exciting resolutions for 2013?

January's Wish List is very much an actual Wish List, rather than a Shopping List, due to funds being incredibly low this month - however I still dare to dream! Evidently there are not many clothes on my list, as many of us are trying to shift those few extra pounds from the festive period, however I have included a trusty pair of jeans. The jeans are from Topshop and they're on the list as not only am I in desperate need of a new pair, but I have found Topshop jeans to be great for my shape and long-lasting.  The accessories, shoes and makeup I've included are fun and bright, and are ideal to cheer us up during the bleak January period - I know I need to shake off those January blues, and although it isn't everything in life, fashion is a good place to start!
