April Wish List: Top Ten

For those of us living in the UK, March was a pretty chilly month, and if the weather reports are to be listened to, April isn't looking too promising either. As depressing as this may initially seem, I am inclined to use this unseasonal cold-snap to practice my styling for the colder seasons (although the high street is evidently trying to pretend that kinder weather is on the way, and Spring/Summer 2013 clothes are all that can be found in the shops!). I have chosen bright but layer-able clothes for this month's Wish List - such as the pink Topshop cami and the Next blue pac-a-mac - this way I can wear spring colours whilst protecting against the undesirable weather. I have also included Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau de Toilette to bring some Spring scents into my life! So, here's a look at my Top Ten for April:

1.

WHISTLES
blue wooster tote (in the sale!)
£90

2.

MARC JACOBS
daisy eau de toilette 50ml
£45

3.

NEXT
blue pac-a-mac
£28

4.

DAISY
aura chakra bracelet in 24c gold
£86

5.

TOPSHOP
pink strappy cami
£18

6.

TOPSHOP
love tube skirt
£22

7.

BURBERRY PRORSUM
metallic python bow belt in teal blue
£495

8.

CHANEL
le vernis nail colour in rose exuberant
£18

9.

ZARA
zebra pattern jacquard coat
£89.99

10.

TOPSHOP
soldier colour block platforms
£80

So, I know it's cold out there, but do try to layer up some colours to put some cheer into your days! I'm also going to make sure that I up my exercise and eat cleanly (especially after all those Easter eggs!), and I'm hoping these little things will make a big difference in my attitude towards this dreary weather.

What will you be wearing this April to cheer yourself up?

The Very Inspiring Blogger Award

The lovely blogger who nominated me said at the beginning of her post that she'd been nominated for this award, and had totally forgotten to post about it. This was quite a few weeks ago now, and ironically, although I haven't forgotten to post about the award, I have just been too busy at work to post about it! But I now have a few days off work, so I can finally catch up with myself!

The rules are as follows:

  1. Link back to your nominator
  2. Display the award logo
  3. Share 7 things about yourself
  4. Nomiate - and let them know

So, I would like to introduce the lovely Caroline of The Girl in the Yellow Dress blog. Caroline's blog gives a beautifully refreshing view on fashion and life - she loves to discover new things, and is incredibly supportive of others in the blogging community. Her blog is truly beautiful, and she often offers little life excerpts which make her readers smile.

Here is Caroline's link: www.girlintheyellowdress.com - so please so check out her blog and support her.

7 Things About Me:

  1. I work for a Non-Govermental Organisation called Street Child World Cup. We believe that no child should have to live on the streets, and our tournament in Rio de Janeiro next March will provide a platform for the voices of street children from 20 different countries to be heard. To find out more visit: www.streetchildworldcup.org - this is a cause that I am truly passionate about, so I feel privileged to have such a job.
  2. I really love to ski, and am excited to be going back out to the Alps for the Easter Weekend.
  3. I've done Hatha yoga for a couple of years, but in April I'm trying out hot yoga (not Bikram, just yoga in a hot room I think!) - so I'll let you all know how that goes!
  4. I really need a new pair of running trainers... I would love a pair of these Nike IDs... store.nike.com
  5. I have recently discovered Label.m dry shampoo and I just love it! I really recommend it! thebeautybooth.com
  6. My favourite show at the February LFW has to be Burberry Prorsum - it was a beautiful collection, and I just loved Tom Odell's live performance of "Hold Me" (definitely the next big UK music star!)
  7. My next purchase will be the gorgeous new moochers by French Sole - they are just divine! www.frenchsole.com
And the Nominees Are...

Francesa @ Frank Vinyl - for her gorgeous Bohemian style - www.frankvinyl.com

Nicole @ Nicole's Revolution - for her fun approach to all things fashion & beauty - nicolesrevolution.blogspot.co.uk

Laura @ Keeping Healthy Getting Stylish - for her truly wonderful and inspirational blog (especially wonderful for tasty healthy recipes and fashion bargains!) - www.keepinghealthygettingstylish.com

So please do support Caroline, Francesa, Nicole, and Laura for their inspirational and beautiful blogs!

March Wish List: Top Ten

So, it's been a little while since I've posted. I've not forgotten about my beloved blog, I have just been ridiculously busy at work! As I work in events the nature of my job is that it comes and goes in waves; and unfortunately I nearly drowned in my wave on numerous occasions over the last few weeks! But thankfully I have finally found the time to write my latest post, and I must say I am rather excited about this one...

As you may have noticed from most of my posts, I often like to play it quite safe; but recent goings-on in the industry have inspired me to be a little more adventurous! The items I have chosen this month are all very "in vogue" with the current fashion fascination of luxe sportswear - inspired by the likes of Queen Delevingne (whose t-shirt I wanted to include in this post, but unsurprisingly they have all sold out, however it has been replaced with another amazing slogan tee saying "totes jel of my Chanel?" - if only I actually had a Chanel!). So without further ado, here are my top ten items for March:

1.

FRENCH SOLE
moochers in black dalmatian and ponyhair, with a glitter toe-cap, and neon green trim
£95

2.

ZARA
combination jacket with zips
£89.99

3.

RAG & BONE
The Grand Prix leather-paneled twill leggings-style jeans
£250

4.

THE CAMBRIDGE SATCHEL COMPANY
lilac metallic 13" satchel
£65

5.

TOPSHOP
side split tee maxi dress
£26

6.

CUTLER & GROSS
0734 fuchsia
£310

7.

BURBERRY PRORSUM
metallic leather trench in metal petrol blue
£2,995

8.

WHISTLES
croc makeup bag in black
£35

9.

BLACK SCORE
totes jel of my Chanel? tee
£40

10.

TOPSHOP
knitted fluro twist jumper
£38

My mood for March is definitely relaxed with a twist of fun. What with all the gloomy weather in London at the moment, we certainly need a few fun (and warm!) items to cheer us up!

What is on your March wish list?

LFW: My Favourite Looks

London Fashion Week sadly ended on Tuesday evening - but what a Fashion Week it was! (And at least we have Milan and Paris to keep us going!) I don't know about you, but I loved having a look at what all our London based designers had to offer, and I have to say that it reinforced how much talent we have here in the UK. We really are a creative bunch, and I love how creativity is fostered and encouraged by the British Fashion Council, as well as our fashion fans.

As you know, I was incredibly lucky to have attended the Issa London show at Somerset House last Saturday, and as it happens, this certainly was one of my highlight shows of LFW. But I would love to share a few more shows that I feel deserve recognition for their fabulous collections. So without further a-do, here are some of my favourite LFW February 2013 looks:

Mary Katrantzou

Peter Pilotto

Burberry Prorsum

Mulberry

Aminaka Wilmont

Topshop Unique

Zoe Jordan

Whistles

Tom Ford

Anya Hindmarch

It really was a fascinating couple of days - what with Tom Ford's return to the catwalk, Whistles showcasing their first Fashion Week collection, and fun & games at the Anya show! I would also really love to own that Zoe Jordan dress - it looks comfortable yet divine!

I hope you enjoyed LFW as much as I did - and if you're missing it then do try and come down to Somerset House either tomorrow or Sunday for London Fashion Weekend! I have tickets for tomorrow afternoon, and there are still some available here!

Another thing to keep in mind is the Vogue Festival on the 27th and 28th of April. I have bought tickets for a lecture titled: "Behind the Scenes of a Vogue Cover Shoot" and I am terribly excited to learn more about the industry. You can buy tickets for that event here!

And finally, please do like my Facebook page, it would mean an awful lot to me as I really want to keep growing my blog and sharing my passion.

Thanks in advance all you beautiful people!

Pre-London Fashion Week Hype

LFW has nearly arrived! Only two more sleeps until the fashion elite descend on the capital and make their judgement on what our British based designers have to offer the fashion world. I for one am far too excited! Although I'm not an experienced enough blogger to be part of the LFW "press" (although this didn't stop me from at least trying to get a Press Pass!) - I have once again hit lucky in some of the Vodafone VIP LFW competitions. I really hardly ever win anything, but for this fashion week I am extremely lucky to have won tickets for an exclusive pre-LFW Mary Katrantzou showcase (my boyfriend has been wonderful in agreeing to come with me on Valentine's Day!), and then the Issa AW13 show on Saturday evening.

I really can't wait to go to Mary Katrantzou's showcase tomorrow night. Her SS13 collection was her most exciting yet - more commercial but still with her wonderfully unique explosions of pattern and colour. I am intrigued to see where she's going to go next, and I wish her Sunday show was being streamed live, but alas, I shall have to wait!

I am equally as excited for the Issa show, and have been a huge fan of Daniella Heylal ever since Kate Middleton wore that dress in her engagement announcement photographs with Prince William. I'm interested to see how Daniella can mix it up whilst keeping her signature style of gorgeously feminine fitted dresses.

Other shows that I'm eagerly awaiting are: Felder Felder, PPQ, David Koma, Mulberry, Temperley London, Unique, Christopher Kane, Erdem, Burberry Prorsum, Anya Hindmarch, Meadham Kirchhoff, and Ashish. Luckily quite a few of these shows are being streamed live; have a look at the LFW schedule to see exactly which ones: www.londonfashionweek.co.uk If you're favourite shows aren't being streamed, then your next best option is to keep a close eye on the Vogue website, as they show each outfit of each show, and write short but sweet reviews about each collection: www.vogue.co.uk

Which shows are you going to/most looking forward to?
